In this program, the District's traditional academic curriculum is combined with a special focus on art, drama, music, and dance. Kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students receive up to 2 1/2 hours of fine arts instruction weekly during the second semester of the school year.
The Awareness of the Arts Magnet is continued in grades 4-6 at
Kennedy Middle School. Fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students devote up to five hours each week to fine arts activities and present special performances throughout the year.
In addition, students at all grade levels take special field trips to plays, concerts, recitals, and art exhibits throughout the school year.
