Four Blocks
is a multimethod, multilevel literacy framework developed by Pat
Cunningham and Dottie Hall of Wake Forest University and utilized by
thousands elementary classrooms.
Each day the
teacher leads a whole group introduction and practice of five words
selected for the week. An On-the-Back activity utilizes the
remaining time in this segment.
Each day children learn how to use word
patterns to read and spell using a wide variety of activities available
for use during the second part of the Words Block..
