4 Blocks Literacy Framework


Four Blocks is a multimethod, multilevel literacy framework developed by Pat Cunningham and Dottie Hall of Wake Forest University and utilized by thousands elementary classrooms.






                                     

Patricia Cunningham is a Professor of Education at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Pat has taught first and fourth grade and remedial reading.  Pat has over 30 years of teaching experience.  Learn more about Pat on her homepage at Wake Forest.

Dorthy Hall is a Curriculum Coordinator at Clemmons Elementary School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Dottie has taught first, second, third, and fourth grade, as well as at the college level.  Dottie has over 30 years of teaching experience.

Cheryl Sigmon is an Education Associate for Language Arts K-12 with South Carolina Department of Education.  Cheryl has 11 years of classroom experience.  She currently is the author of a weekly web column titled "Sifting and Sorting Through the 4-Blocks Literacy Model".

Margaret Defee teaches first grade at Clemmons Elementary School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Margaret was the pilot teacher for 4 Blocks and was instrumental in its development.
