    North Central Association
Kankakee High School

Kankakee High School has again partnered with the North Central Association (NCA) to better aid our students and community through school improvement. NCA relies on one hundred years of accreditation experience to determine appropriate membership and improvement criteria. There is interest in keeping the criteria high so that accreditation reflects a high quality school.  Kankakee High School has been NCA accredited since the 1905-06 school year.

The North Central Association has a long history of basing school accreditation on the premise that each institution should be judged in light of its stated mission and purpose. Accreditation protects the public trust by verifying that schools are what they say they are and do what they say they do.

The NCA accreditation process is a five-year commitment. Currently Kankakee High School is finishing its second year in December and will begin its third year in the accreditation process in January. All of our work centers around two student performance goals: All students will improve their level of reading comprehension across the curriculum and All students will increase their mathematical skills in a variety of curricular contexts.

More information about the NCA office can be found at www.nca.uillinois.edu. Currently there are several completed documents that can be viewed and more will be added as they become available. If you have any questions about the NCA Accreditation and School Improvement process, please contact the KHS SIP/NCA Steering Committee Chairperson, Debra Prude.     Deb-Prude@ksd111.org
